YOUR TIME TO EXPLORE AND EXPERIMENT - ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM at Grønbechs Gård - Bornholms Center for Kunsthåndværk.
Grønbechs Gård offers a unique stay for inspiration and gallery experience in our newly renovated artist in residence studio.
Artist in residence is a program for the professional Danish or international artist working with kiln glass, ceramics, or low tech disciplines like textiles. It is an opportunity to have a creative space, to network and to be inspired by our many visitors. The facilities offered are mainly shared; and the gallery has an open workshop.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR RESIDENCY
In the program designed for the professional artist, you will be expected to work on your own project next to other artist and tourists who participate in our short courses.
The programs also encompass spaces for the emerging artist, who wants to learn while working alongside our many visitors. As well as communicating with our guests, we expect you to deliver an artist talk and representation of your work in our gallery shop.
It is important to know that Grønbechs Gård is a gallery. That means that the workshop and your workstation is open for visitors and you are expected to engage with the visitors' questions about your work and processes.
We aim to keep the gallery open for visitors from Easter until late November; however the summer season is the busiest. We are closed on Mondays where you have time to focus.
Professional artists
At Grønbechs Gård we encourage the exchange of knowledge and research into materials, techniques, and ideas. At Grønbechs Gård you will get the opportunity to engage in the local craft community, to be part of a World Craft Region and to be close to a knowledgeable community of gallery goers.
At Grønbechs Gård, we unite different fields of knowledge: consumer research, artistic research and professional practice. We believe that all three are necessary perspectives that will lead to new ways of discovering, inventing, creating and surviving as an artist.
Whether you would like to find ways to match the demand of the commercial market do technical research or create a groundbreaking new design, we will provide you with studio space and access to real clients
Artists will have their own area in the studio and have access to kilns as well as our gallery shop.
Emerging artists
Do you dream of achieving experience in a professional gallery environment, where you can expand your knowledge of the collector? Then maybe, it is you, we need as our new Young Artist in Residence.
At Grønbechs Gård we wish to give young artists the best opportunities to expand their horizons and develop their artistic skills.
As Young-Artist-in-Residence at Grønbechs Gård you will have a shared studio space and you will become part of a gallery environment that promotes interaction and dialogue with our many guests.
We are open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm. During visiting hours you are expected to interact with the public. To engage in dialogue, demonstrate your craft and hold the occasional workshop and artist talk.
You will have your own separated workstation at your disposal, however all workshops are open for visitors.
The program for YAIR is open to applications by young artists, newly educated glassmakers, and ceramicist and textile artists.
Open positions for YAIR:
Start: 2023
3, 6 or 12 month positions.
Studio rent 1500 d kr. / month plus VAT = 1.875, - d kr.
Additional cost for kiln firings at 700, - dkr plus VAT / firing = 875, - d kr / firing.
